MESG

The MESG is the maximum experimental safe gap, the maximum gap through which an ignited gas would not ignite a surrounding flammable atmosphere. If the gap between the inside and the outside are larger than the MESG then ignited gas could pass through the gap and ignite any flammable gas.Great care is taken to ensure gaps in bearing and flange covers and cable entries meet the prescribed requirements. The MESG is based upon a 25mm flame path (flange).
